Applications and Disappointments

A little while ago I mentioned applying for graduate school; well I did in fact apply in August.  For a while, I was wondering if they were even processing my application. After my application package (complete with 2 essays, 3 letters of recommendation, and transcripts) was submitted, I was supposed to get some kind of ID to check my status online.  I waited and waited for that e-mail but never got one.  For the last month, I just kinda put it all in the back of my mind, tried not to worry, and just assumed it was being processed.  A little over a month of waiting and I finally got the decision e-mail:  “We regret to inform you…” –no need to finish reading that e-mail.

Now I’m not sure what I want to do…not that I’ve ever been 100% sure in the first place.  I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do the online school; it would mean even less time to study Korean, write my blog, exercise, and spend time with my friends.  I’ve been debating about on-line degree programs (even though they’re not reputable) or going to graduate school in Korea (which may be even less reputable) or waiting until I see where in the States I wind-up or even no graduate school at all.  Frankly, I’m not even sure what major I want to pursue…

Texas Tech University = Not my future school

Before I came to Korea, I had a cat and dog. (Yes, I love both ^.^)   I initially wanted to take my cat with me, but I left my animals in the States in the care of a very loving family.  My animals are now no longer mine, but both the animals and the family are happy.  My original plan was to work in Korea for just one year.  Now, I’m in my second year and I’m debating about staying another and getting a cat.  (I hope that doesn’t surprise anyone too badly…)

My pretty boy (well not mine now ㅠㅠ)

My big girl (also not mine any more ㅠㅠ)

I started looking for a cat to adopt about a month ago.  My previous pets and family pets have always been through shelters for about $30-50: no pure-breeds for us.  Imagine my dismay to see kittens at a local pet store with a starting price of $150.  O.o  I then sought out a shelter in a nearby big city (about 45 minutes away) which requires a VERY LONG application.  I submitted it for a specific cat I saw listed on the forums.  One week later, I received the e-mail “I’m sorry, but the cat cannot be adopted at this time.”  I seem to have no luck with my applications, but I sent out another one for a different cat.  *fingers crossed*

  1. I may be able to help with that, Kids cat had kittens and I can ask if you can have one…however I have a cat so 😛

    1. Wow! Well I’ll let you know after Monday (by then I’ll know about my second application). Your kids will be stuck with the kittens for a while though; kittens need to stay with the momma cat for like 2-3 months.

  2. Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive read something like this before. So nice to search out any person with some original thoughts on this subject. realy thanks for starting this up. this web site is one thing that’s wanted on the net, someone with a bit of originality. helpful job for bringing one thing new to the internet!

  3. Jaclyn boy do I hear you on not knowing “whats next” “where to go”….I am excited to continue reading your blog. I never had pets so I wouldn’t be much help with that. As for Grad School who knows, right now I am going to continue working and see where it takes me!!

  4. […] to Texas Tech’s program for technical communications. (I had applied three years ago but my application was quickly rejected *sad face*.)  The due date was about two weeks ago, and I still haven’t gotten a response […]
