Preparing for Malaysia

I’ve promised a blog on Malaysia, so I guess should actually write and post one. (To read about my actual time there, click here.) I  left Korea for about a week and a half for my vacation.  Even though it’s been only about a month since I went on this vacation…it feels like ages ago.  Seriously, I just looked at my calendar thinking it was 2 or 3 months ago.

Let me back up…

My summer vacation dates were, of course,  discussed with me very last minute at my school.  As a result, I scrambled in my search in places to go for good prices.  I ended up finding a sweet deal at a resort near Genting Highlands in Malaysia.  The deal was so sweet that I ended up with a two bedroom/two bathroom accomadation for just me…and no one to share it with.

How could you refuse this resort?

I went out on a limb and posted in an EPIK facebook group about my extra room. After a week of being ignored, I actually got a response from someone that has a few mutual friends with me.  I told her that I didn’t really want money for the room, but that she buy me food during the vacation.  She was more than okay with that.  ^^

Buying my Flight Tickets

After my room was reserved, I went searching for some cheap flights to Malaysia.  Cheaptickets was a little more expensive than kayak, but after the headache of trying to make Kayak work for me (after about 2 hours), I decided that cheaptickets was the way to go. I’ve used cheaptickets before and haven’t had too many issues with flights or times…but I ended up with some crazy times for my flights for my vacation.

Basically all the convenient flights I wanted were stupid expensive.  So although my total flight time was only 7 hours, I ended up leaving Seoul at 2pm Thursday and arrived at 2am at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (13 hours total).  And then leaving Kuala Lumpur Saturday at 1am to arrive at 3pm (11 hours total).   All my layovers were in Shanghai.

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays..

    1. Thanks for the compliment. It’s a free theme, actually! WordPress.com offers a lot of free themes to use (although the paid ones are typically much better).
